I love it. I did try to log in live messenger and got “A new version is available, do you want to install it now? You must accept to continue”. No way to log in without upgrade. No joke.

I found this looking for anti-MS rants. I jus installed the trial version of XL ‘07. I’v been using open office calc for a while, but have been using XL ‘03 at work for many years, & now I have a ton of homework to do, & the open office is getting a little irritating, mainly because the book is about XL, not OO. OK fine, I get the “full featured” 60 day limit trial version. OK, its not full featured, no charts. That’s what I need damn it. OK, fine its a free trial version. But THEY said it was a full featured trail version. Therefore I should be able to create charts. More irritating than that is the fact that I open the program. Go to the file menu / ribbon / whatever the fuck it is now, then OPEN. Click on the drive dropdown. It goes into this mode where it has to configuration mode that took forever. finally click on a drive, 2 minutes later, I can click on a folder, 2 minutes later I can click on another folder. OK, the hell with this, I’ll just browsw through windows explorer & open the file.

I mean its just rediculous.

I do have vista installed on a new machine (not this one), & it runs fine. I’m running 3DSMAX 64 bit. It can handle files (for rendering) that my 32 bit XP machines couldn’t handle. (I must have bought the one copy of vista that actually works).

but otherwise I think M$ totally sucks..

like when you upgrade vista, it goes from the excessive 10GB, to the insane 32GB!!! (hint: find a slipstreamed ISO w/ sp1 & sp2 )

I have been in the software industry for over 20 years: vista is the worst piece of crap I have ever seen.

I wish I had gotten an illegal copy instead.. Used Microsoft o/s, office and other programs for many years, always upgraded to the latest: but after this I WILL NEVER AGAIN BUY ANOTHER MS PRODUCT AGAIN

Since I’d much rather be running CPM, HELLO gates, in a world without fences, who needs Gates? I’ll rather be running Linnx. Vista SUCKS BIG TIME!!!!!
My next computer WILL BE A MAC, or one that runs Linnx, screw you gates, you havn’t done anything right ever since you stole CPM many years ago. You could have augmented it, but instead you chose to crippled it and you then sold it as your new idea, NOT. Vista SUCKS BIG TIME!!!!! Your new idea’s, (vista) no better than that, (win 7). MS sucks as a supplier of a truly VIABLE operating system. Millions lines of code works much slower than code written in assembler. Wake up idiot.

I still have a working CPM computer, I still enjoy using it greatly , unlike my 1 Tb tower.

I work in computer graphics/3D animation, and have been running graphics applications on PC’s for years now. Vista is without a doubt the most irritating, useless, horrible OS ever written and theres not an animation studio in the world that would incorporate it into a workflow, because it would without a doubt lead to their going out of business (and I’m not just making that up. No studio will go near it because dealing with it’s many glitches and flaws would be a massive time sink). I have two systems that came preinstalled with Vista, and both have experienced an extraordinary amount of program crashes, bugs, and other irritants. I have to reboot my system at least once daily, my programs crash at a minimum of 5 times a day a piece. I’ve tried turning off aero, following a few guides to speed up Vista’s performance, but nothing makes it even remotely enjoyable or efficient compared to other OS’s. While I suppose it would be alright for doing basic stuff like checking your email, listening to music or running microsoft apps, i’ve even had issues just running microsuck software like IE in the past. I have no viruses, nothing like that….the OS is just garbage if you plan on doing anything on your system beyond the grasp of a 5 year old (which ironically are the only people Microsuck can convince to endorse their garbage in commercials). As far as Windows 7 goes, I have had so much stress and aggravation over Vista that I am no longer willing to trust Microsoft, and this will be my last generation using Windows. At my last workplace I had two systems, a Mac and a PC running XP. While I would still prefer XP and i’m aware that Mac isn’t perfect, it’s sure as hell better than Vista. I’ve dabbled with Ubuntu but theres no driver for my printer, so I’m thinking I’ll be moving on to Mac as soon as I can afford one. Screw Microsoft.
