I can’t get over the incredibly one-sided posts from Americans on YouTube about the whole Israel/Palestine thing. They really do seem to have no concept that is was an American and British idea that kicked the whole thing off! “I know” says Churchill, “let’s turf a bunch of Arabs out of where they’ve lived for 2000 years or so and give it to the people who lived there before that!” “Good plan” says Roosevelt, “Let’s give America to Native Americans and Australia to Aboriginals while we’re at it!” Okay, I made that last part up, but you get the idea.
Ah yes, the old divide and rule. Imperial cultures are past masters at it. The middle east, africa, ireland, east timor – the perpetrators have been dutch, british, belgian, french even indonesian. The US needs to learn some fo this. It’s a bit more subtle than bombing the fuck out of people.
